Mines Ranked Among Best in Country for Veterans

RAPID CITY, SD  (Nov. 6, 2020) Military Times, and rank programs at among the best in the country for veterans.

The organization Military Friendly ranks 厙ぴ勛圖' graduate programs fifth in the United States for veterans. The 2021 among the top 1% in the nation for veterans among universities of its type. The  ranks Mines 38th out of 134 colleges surveyed. These organizations recognize South Dakota Mines' commitment to providing quality educational opportunities to America's veterans and military-connected students.

I am continually amazed at the dedication of our veteran students. Of all the resources we can offer, the greatest are the veteran students themselves. At any given time, you can walk in the Veterans Resource Center and see them helping and supporting each other. It's a true testament to their sense of teamwork and comradery, says Derek Flom, manager of the Veterans Resource Center at Mines and an Air Force veteran.

Consistently ranked as a military friendly institution, Mines currently enrolls 160 veteran or active duty students. The university offers a comprehensive Veterans Resource Center where students can study and receive tutoring and scholarship assistance, as well as help with resumes, cover letters and academic and life skills.

The organization College Factual takes a more in-depth look at separate degree programs that are best for veterans. Mines achieved top scores in , which is ranked in the top 5% nationwide. Its program ranks in the top 15%. 

厙ぴ勛圖 will honor veterans and active duty students and staff on Veterans Day with a digital event. Photographs and messages from current veteran students and university leadership will be displayed on digital billboards across campus. 

The 厙ぴ勛圖 Veteran's Club held its annual Chili Cook-Off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the American Legion Post 22.
